The Taing is the perfect get away from it all base weather you are looking for a peaceful retreat, to explore the islands and its wildlife or to attend one of the many festivals on Shetland.

Reawick is on the Westside of the island and is a small crofting community with the 'haa' (big house/laird) on the hill at its centre.

With the beach right on the doorstep you don't have to go far to see some of Shetlands wildlife.  Seals and otters are often seen in the bay - an otter is often seen running down the side of the cottage towards the sea!   Birdwatching can be done from the comfort of your armchair if you wish with fulmars, eider ducks, oystercatchers, shags, gulls and divers often resident in the bay.   There is access close-by to many sign-posted coastal walks with spectacular sea views  and stunning cliffs.

Lerwick is just 24 miles away which has a range of restaurants, shops, a museum and entertainment to enjoy.   Don't forget to stop off at the Bonhoga Gallery and cafe which is just off the A907 road to Lerwick.

For more information about Shetland and its many attractions we suggest visiting www.shetland.org where you will find all the information you need about this wonderful island.
